Item description from seller
It's time for a new perspective to unfold within today's public schools, especially when addressing the needs of exceptional kids. Staff, parents, and students are expected to do so much with so little: As a result, a divide has developed between home and school due to unnecessary stress, fear, and a general sense of discouragement felt on both sides. Love, Understanding, and Other Best Practices provides a transformative shift for educators and parents through mutual understanding, evidence-guided decisions, and strength-based intervention. As IEP and 504 Plan processes unfold within the framework of the promise found within every child, creativity, innovation, and inspiration unlock the doors to greater success than ever before. As a result, the experience moves from a maze with endless twists and turns, to a transparent process guided by collaboration. Due to the complex nature of kids today, with ADHD, Autism, and other neurological mysteries unfolding at epidemic levels, we have no choice; a new paradigm needs to support our educational system, and most importantly, support our kids. Let love, understanding, and other best practices be your guide.

About the Author
As a nationally recognized Educational Consultant & Advocate since 1998, Larry provides critical support to parents navigating the school system, either through Special Education or Gifted Education. Through direct IEP & 504 Plan advocacy and consulting in complex special needs casework, his practice, Special Education Advocacy.org, is considered one of the leading advocacy resources in the country. Intuition, insight, and an "insiders perspective", highlights his work. In addition, Larry is a well-respected speaker at conferences nationally, including the annual NAESP Principals Convention, Autism Society, and SENG [Gifted Education] Annual Conferences. In 2009, he was a recipient of the Puget Sound Super Hero Award presented by "Parent Map Magazine" due to his nationally recognized advocacy practice. Also, in 2014, "West Sound Home and Garden Magazine" acknowledged Larry as a "Local Hero". Insightful, intuitive, and graced with a quirky sense of humor: Simply, he serves parents and districts as a valued resource when addressing special needs intervention, gifted education programming, and highly complicated IEP and 504 Plan development. Initially, Larry's career started as an Elementary Teacher in 1980. By the time he was 30, he was one of the youngest principals in California and loved being a school administrator for ten years. In the process of following his dream, he discovered a new calling within Special Education, and developed his own advocacy practice in 1998. Also, Larry joined the Institute of HeartMath program in April of 2011 and became certified as a Trainer offering workshops and presentations in support of emotional wellness, resiliency, and self-regulation; all critical issues within ADHD, Autism, and other anxiety related conditions. As a nationally recognized speaker and trainer on various special education and gifted education topics, his audience consistently reviews his presentations as "inspiring", "informative", and "uplifting". The foundation of his work is guided by the belief that every child is a gift and our role through advocacy is to assure the unfolding of the promise, possibility, and passion found within our children.
