Item description from seller

Pirated edition, 'Fifty Copies for Private Circulation', and dated 1870 but in fact [c. 1890?]. Disbound, original printed wrappers, sewn gatherings, edges unevenly trimmed, a little fragile but holding, contents clean, preserved smartly in a custom-made brown cloth folding cover and half-leather slipcase, this gilt lettered with raised bands, a little rubbed; appears to be the uncommon pirated edition produced by the famous forger Thomas J. Wise, of Richard Herne Shepherd's own pirated edition of 1870. Wise reproduced this 'with a Monograph by the Author of 'Tennysoniana'. viii, 47pp.
