Belinda Schweinhart started the Atkins diet in January, 1998, after trying every other diet available. None worked, at least not for very long. Cholesterol went from 251 (with HDL of 54 -- test didn't show other numbers, darn it!), to 234 (with HDL of 61, LDL of 140 and tryglycerides of 165) after only six months and had cholesterol of 225 (with HDL of 64, LDL of 126 and tryglycerides of 174) after one year. It has been 15 months and she has continued to keep the weight off and still feels great on the low carb diet!
