The Low Winter Sun: Portraits in Poetry (Poetry Portraits)

This is Duncan Rouch’s fifth book of poetry, following, 'The Luminous Horizon', 'Eye of the Storm King', 'Accompanying the Sun' and ‘Sounds of the Sea’ poetry books, with similar themes. These are, a type of 'praise poetry', connected to the idea that it would useful to acknowledge the positive characteristics of people, and a type of 'challenge poetry', to reflect on challenges that people face in life, from both internal and external issues, often to have an emotionally darker feel, though often with at least a little light open for hope. Key features are three poem sets, ‘The Tragic Death of Penelope Dingle’, ‘Batty Domestic Violence Case’, and ‘Crack House USA’.
