A romance in the mountains--Lucinda Harmon struggles to break away from the sheltering bonds of family and from the mountain traditions to which McDowell County still held on to during the 1950s. Her goal was a bigger and broader world through the realm of education. In striving for her goal, she encounters resistance from family, religious strictures, and traditional roles for women. She also struggles with the love of two men, one who challenges her to risk the unknown, and another who overwhelms her with possessive love.

Adda Leah Davis is a McDowell County, West Virginia native now living in Russell County, Virginia. She is a retired elementary school teacher and counselor and is the author of fifteen books: Here I am again Lord; Landon Colley, An Old Time Primitive Baptist Universalist Preacher; Caleb's Song; and Golden Harvest Workbooks for Grades One, Two, and Three; Lucinda's Mountain, Jason's Journey, The Beckoning Hills, and Farther Along(a four book series). Abigail's Redemption, The Whisperer, The Untangling Tale a three book series whose titles are: A Fatal Love of Place, A Fatal Web of Deceit, and Fatal Choices and Second Chances, and Life Cycles in Nature for children.
