Lucumo

Lucumo tells the story of a foreigner who rose to greatness in the early days of Rome. Born to a Greek father and an Etruscan mother, Lucumo leaves behind the city of Tarquinii and journeys to Rome in search of honor and a new beginning. With the counsel of his wife, Tanaquil, and signs from the gods, he rises in Roman society through courage, service, and ambition.

Based closely on the ancient historian Livy, Lucumo introduces young readers to one of Rome’s legendary early leaders. Written in clear, classical prose and illustrated in the style of ancient mosaics, the Stories of Rome series brings the past to life for readers aged 7–12 and their families.
