Er arbeitete kurzzeitig als Redakteur, wurde dann aber freier Journalist und Schriftsteller. Neben zahllosen Beiträgen in Zeitungen und Zeitschriften hat er über vierzig Büher veröffentlicht, von denen viele sich auf die eine oder andere Weise mit Bayern befassen: 'Breißn dratzn' (1971), 'Bayerisch auf deutsch' (1973) oder 'München damals' (1972), 'Dees brauchts doch need' (1978), 'Der bayerische Schwan' (1979), 'Vornamen in Bayern' (1981) oder 'Die Edelweißplage' (1986).
