FIFTH EDITION 1835, small 8vo, 135 x 105 mm, 5¼ x 4 inches, rebound in modern dark green half leather over marbled boards, gilt title to spine, original endpapers retained, pages: viii, 184, Part 2 begins on page 39. Engraved frontispiece and 15 engraved plates, dated 1829. Armorial bookplate on front endpaper, light browning to a few page edges, a few pencil marks to a couple of early pages, mostly erased, otherwise text clean, margins of plates lightly damp stained to varying degrees, some margins lightly foxed occasionally affecting image, small closed tear to inner margin of 1 plate. A good plus complete copy of uncommon John Harris title. Moon, Harris page 77, No.515 (5), first published in 1829. The bookplate is that of Robert Washington Oates, cousin of the famous polar explorer Capt Lawrence Oates. He was an antique dealer and antiquarian bookseller who in 1954 was largely responsible for securing The Wakes, Selborne home of naturalist Gilbert White.
