Frontispiece, illustrated with 42 b&w photographs and a folded color map in the back of the book of Manchuria. First Edition/First Printing. Bound in cloth boards with titles present to the spine and front board. Boards have shelf-wear present to the extremities (boards are scuffed and worn with fading and wear present to the spine) . Bookplate present to the front pastedown. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. First editon of the first work by a slightly shady, but interesting resident in China, whose father had worked for the Chinese Maritime Customs service. He worked as a journalist in both Chinese and English, and was assassinated in 1930 after having been embroiled in Chinese politics. This book is probably one of the best accounts of the Russian-Chinese border and a history of Sino-Russian relations. EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Seller Inventory # 66023
