Buff wrappers, very good, 20p text, grand color folding map of Peiping, 50 x 61 cm.,Engish text, English & Chinese character street name index, folding covers, 11 x 16.6 cm.,very solid example. RARE FIRST EDITION . *** **** *** . . . A GRAND COLOR MAP AND STREET GUIDE . . . TO OLD PEIPING [BEIJING] . . * This is a lovely period color map and guide to the Forbidden City, the Imperial Palace, all within the Walled City. . The map shows the full area from north to south; east to west, and all in-between: Temple of Heaven, Temple of Agriculture, Central Lake, South & Peihoi lakes. Chung Hua Men, Coal Hill and the central Forbidden City, residence of the Emperor. . The various walls and gates named. . This pamphlet and map was a Supplement to "Peiping Shopping Guide," Tientsin-Peiping, 1932 edition. . The 20p. street guide has standard Wade-Giles romanization, followed by street number and the Chinese character [Hanzi] name and full address, including a large number of Hutung [alley ways]. . *** CONDITION: Binding: The work is in the original buff stiff printed wrappers. They are by and large clean, with a very minor bit of insignificant wear. The binding is firm and very solid. There are two small mends on the verso map hinge. . The large color folding map is by and large very clean and solid. There was some old clear tape applied ages ago to three verso horizontal folds. Although the tape has since come off, there remains the usual "dry gum marks." The "gum marks" have bled through a little bit in 5 places: 4 at the edges of the map, the fifth was an old tape reinforcement at the lower map hinge where it attaches to the pamphlet. There are a few faint and minor fox marks. The map is intact, with no major fold wear, tears or the like. The map was printed on heavy paper and still has bright colors. . *** SUITABLE FOR FRAMING & DISPLAY: This kind of rare map is most often found framed and glazed. . ***.…
