Pilot's Journal is Morgan's chronicle of his postwar years in the bar and jazz scene, Observations from the Bar is Nash's journal, and Martini Diaries is a collection of the club's most famous martini recipes, accompanied by stories of their birth. The diaries and anecdotes are surprisingly compelling and are littered with the personalities of the club's patrons: Hemingway, Picasso, Bogart, Gillespi, Roach, and Davis. All are printed on newsprint--complete with water stains--and bound in textured paper. Both Pilot's Journal and Martini Diaries are sheathed in metal cases. While the volumes are sold separately, none stand completely on their own. Each of the separate stories adds richness to the other.
