About the Author: Desmond J. Higham is a Professor of Mathematics at University of Strathclyde, Scotland. Higham is Richardson Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Manchester, England. He specializes in numerical linear algebra and has contributed numerous M-files to MATLAB.
