Edition uncertain. There was an earlier 1786 ed. Frontis portrait; iv; 439pp. Original end papers and one blank front and back. The page nos are continuous as is the text and the collation runs from A to Kkk2 with all Js, Vs & Ws unutilised in the printer's notation. The Continuation, was apparently written by a Mr Harrison who edited Johnson's Dictionary but is not credited in this edition. Full contemporary leather, worn, chipped and scuffed with 10cm x 4cm piece missing from front cover. But binding and sewing sound. "A Bunbury" in gilt on front cover. Handwritten summary on front pastedown, and on a page beside the text. Some pencilled highlighting within the first 70pp. Colour stains affecting the top edge of the first few pages 1-3mm, and a few small ink spots on edge. A pale coin-sized dampstain at the bottom fore-corners of the first few and last few pages. Some browning to the endpapers from the leather turnovers and pages generally sepia. Good.
