Copyright by the author. Octavo red cloth covers, xviii + 353 pages. With more than 175 illustrations and one map of Vicinity of Fort Leavenworth. Pages and all folding plates are in very good condition. The large folding map of Vicinity of Fort Leavenworth in band at rear of book has a couple of very small tears at folds, still very good. With the stamp of __ / colonel, 1st Reg Wis. Cav. N.G. on front endpapers, and lightly, on rear cover. Front hinge starting, two spots of wear at fore-edge of front cover.

Established in 1984, Alkahest Bookshop took over the space and stock of the Atheneum Bookstore on Central St. in Evanston, IL. For many years we were a partner in Chicago Rare Book Center, which closed in 2017. We are now on-line, and have a select general stock, with large sections on U.S. history, art, and literature. We are members of the Midwest Antiquarian Booksellers Association (MWABA) and IOBA.

International priority mail rates are based on the book fitting in a padded priority mail envelope with enough extra room to provide cardboard protection for it. If it doesn't fit, priority mail rates will be higher. Please note, media mail shipments to Hawaii and Alaska may take longer than 30 days.
