MISSING IN KU-RING-GAI CHASE

Missing in Ku-ring-gai Chase

An ordinary bicycle ride. A hidden pit. Ten days to survive.

Kiran thought she was taking a familiar ride through the beautiful bushland of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. She had food, water, tools and enough experience to handle the unexpected. What she did not expect was for the earth to disappear beneath her.

In an instant, Kiran falls into a deep, concealed pit, suffering serious injuries and losing access to her phone. Trapped beneath the trees and unable to climb out, she quickly realises that no one knows where she is.

As her food and water supplies begin to run out, Kiran must use everything she has: her practical knowledge, her determination, the tools she carried with her and even the remains of her damaged bicycle. Every failed escape attempt teaches her something new. Every storm creates another problem. Every night brings the possibility that she may not survive until morning.

Above ground, her husband and the authorities begin an increasingly desperate search through the vast Australian bushland. But the forest is hiding Kiran in plain sight, and the search teams have no idea that she is trapped only a short distance from the roads they are examining.

Alone beneath the trees, Kiran is forced to confront something more frightening than physical injury: the possibility of giving up.

Drawing on memories of her childhood, her mother’s wisdom, the hardships she has overcome and the life she built after moving to Australia, Kiran discovers that survival is not always about strength. Sometimes it is about solving one small problem after another, refusing to surrender and finding the courage to try one more time.

Missing in Ku-ring-gai Chase is a gripping story of survival, resilience, family and the extraordinary strength hidden inside an ordinary person.

When Kiran finally reaches the surface, her ordeal is far from over—but she has learned something that will change the way she sees the rest of her life.
