Third printing (as stated upon copyright page; first published July 1952). xvi, 208 pages. Hardcover: H 21.75cm x L 14.75cm. Dust jacket retains bright color to front panel with spine illustration having light fading; panels rubbed; shallow chipping/scuffing at spine and flap fold ends; white rear panel (listing 10 titles) soiled and toned with some staining; some foxing to flaps; front flap's top corner is price-clipped. Gray cloth with dark brown stamping to spine. Toning/foxing to text block edges and endpapers; a few spots of foxing to leaves which overall remain clean. Binding is firm. Title page does not cite dj artist Alex A. Schomburg but he is cited near top of dj front flap; endpapers are without Schomburg illustrations as Winston tended to drop that embellishment on their later printings.
