Beautiful pictorial endpapers in pink and grey (rear endpapers bound in upside down), a total of 8 charming vignettes tinted pink and pale blue to prelims, a pink and blue pictorial headpiece to the 5 pages of Foreword, 8 excellent coloured plates on coated paper, including frontispiece, plus line drawings to every page, many full page, many humorous, many young children and babies. Contents: 84 Nursery Rhymes, 44 Proverbs and 21 Rhyme Games and Counting out Rhymes. Spine faded (gilt bright), very slight wear to head and tail of spine with 2 tiny nicks to cloth, minute bump to top corner of upper cover, very slight wear to corners, slight uneven fading to lower cover, slight faint foxing to fore-edges, faint trace of old ink price on front endpaper, pencil name mostly erased from verso, faint foxing to half-title, very little to title page and prelim pages, occasional pale fox spots, 4 facing pages faintly foxed all over, faint browning to inner folds next to stitching. A very good plus sturdy clean copy of a charming Charles Robinson nursery rhyme book, uncommon in first edition. Reprints were issued in the 1930s in pictorial boards by Children's Press in various formats usually with a cover designed by a different artist.
