DARK BEGINNINGS, BRUTAL ENDINGS
In the eerie heart of North Yorkshire’s medieval countryside, The Mother of All Things is a chilling psychological thriller where nightmares bleed into reality. Perfect for fans of Stephen King, C.J. Tudor, and Ruth Ware, Gabriel Blake’s novel weaves supernatural terror with the raw scars of family trauma.
"Fast-paced, scary, so well thought out and so rewarding to read" – 5-Star Review
Extremely well written. Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Left me feeling extremely satisfied.
"Clever and compelling psychological thriller" – 5-Star Review
Shocking, tense, gripping, surprising, thought-provoking, dark and chilling.
After a traumatic event and the collapse of her marriage, Elaine returns to her childhood home, determined to renovate the dilapidated farmhouse. As she reconnects with her mother and entertains her two children over the summer holidays, she hopes to rebuild her life.
But terrifying nightmares and unsettling memories begin to surface. Eerie occurrences around the house make Elaine question whether her imagination is running wild – until an intruder shatters her fragile sense of security, and events quickly spiral out of control.
A missing police officer, a suspicious psychiatrist, and the reappearance of an old adversary only add to Elaine’s mounting anxiety. When she wakes to find herself covered in blood beside the body of a masked man, Elaine is forced to confront her darkest fears. With her grip on reality slipping, she must fight for her sanity and face the demons of her past – before it’s too late.
"The Mother of all reads!" – 5-Star Review
Really enjoyed this book. The first half develops the characters well, ready for the clever, fast-paced second half. It's hard to decide what genre this book fits in. As a lover of James Herbert and Stephen King, I would say it would probably be along the lines of a psychological thriller/horror.
"A must-read" – 5-Star Review
Wow! This book had me gripped from the very beginning. So many twists and turns.
"The best novel I’ve read in a long time" – 5-Star Review
A brilliant novel. The detailing in the description of the characters, places and dreams are breathtaking.
"An absorbing, disturbing and kinetic thriller that balances a tight rope between a conventional whodunnit and a Gothic horror." – 5-Star Review
"In The Mother Of All Things, Mr Blake melds mystery, crime, suspense, drama, and action in a story seeping with dark paranoid tension." – 5-Star Review
