MUM'S THE WORD

Brings to life a number of superb portraits of great Australian mothers who played a vital and important role in the history of Australia--mothers like Elizabeth Macarthur, Caroline Chisholm, Mary Reibey, Sarah Durack and many others. Takes an intimate look at their strenghts, their wisdom, their love, and their splendid contribution to the growth of Australia and the powerful dynasties they created. Here is an endlessly fascinating look at all aspects of Motherhood: world renowned mothers and how they managed to combine career and family; mothers of famous people who encouraged and nurtured the talent in their children; the courage and devotion of mothers of disabled children; and the wonderful efforts of mothers who raise money to help deaf and blind children. A galaxy of fifty famous people have their say about the mothers too--Nancy Reagan, Jeffrey Archer, Professor Manning Clark, Colleen McCullough, Geoffrey Robertson, John Newcombe, Michael Edgley, Rolf Harris, Bob Ansett, Margaret Peacock, Alan Jones, Hazel Hawke and Terry Willesee.
