There's a pretty good chance your first computer was a Windows computer--of maybe even just DOS. MacOS isn't complicated but switching from another operating system can be a little confusing at first. This guide is intended to help you make the switch.
If you want to know how to do all those Windows things on a Mac, then this book will help you.
This book is intended for people who want to get started quickly with the OS. For that reason, it's not as comprehensive as other guides. It covers the most popular features, but not how to do configurations you probably have never heard of and will never want to do.
I purposely have done my best to make this handbook a little more casual and fun than what you expect from most MacOS manuals. MacOS is a fun operating system, and any guide you read should be an equally fun read.
Each chapter starts with bullet points on what will be covered, so if it's something you already know, you can skip right ahead; if you only need to know how to use new features, the book is also formatted in a way that these stand out.
- What's new to macOS Catalina
- How do you do all those Windows "things" on a Mac
- Apple Services (Apple Music, Apple News, iCloud, Apple Card, Apple Arcade, Apple TV+)
- Using Siri
- How to find things / how to organize things to make them easy to find
- Setting up Internet and Email
- Using Sidecar
- Using Time Machine
- Parental Controls
- Downloading / Updating apps
- Organizing photos
- Making phone calls and sending messages
- Multitasking
- And much, much more!

Store description
In 2002, World of Books Group was founded on an ethos to do good, protect the planet and support charities by enabling more goods to be reused. Since then, we've grown into to a global company pioneering the circular economy. Today, we drive the circular economy through three re-commerce brands: - Wob: Through Wob, we sell. We provide affordable, preloved books and media to customers all over the world. A book leaves our collection of over seven million titles and begins a new chapter every two seconds, enabling more goods to be reused. - Ziffit: Through Ziffit, we buy. We give people around the world the opportunity to contribute to the circular economy, earn money and protect the planet, by trading their unwanted books and media. - Shopiago: Through Shopiago, we help others. By sharing the technology that has grown World of Books Group into the business it is today, we’re helping charities increase revenue and reduce waste through re-commerce.…
