War Machine: Case Against the Arms Race

During the past few decades we have several times approached the final holocaust. For six incredible minutes in 1979, the vast nuclear arsenal of the United States was scrambled into "red alert" for a war scheduled to begin at 0340 hours. The cause was a computer error. It happened again twice, in 1980.

Internationally respected lawyer, writer and UN consultant James Avery Joyce concisely exposes the lunatic logic of our military establishment, the nihilistic self-delusion of our political leaders, and the unconscionable greed of the multi-national arms manufacturers. Dr. Joyce tells how the arms race is impoverishing the rich nations, how it is condemning poor nations to unrelieved starvation ... and what World War III, increasingly accepted as inevitable, would be like. The intention is not to further alarm a world population already numbed by the prospect of Armageddon, but to make an urgent and reasoned plea for participation in the worldwide campaign against the arms race. For the individual citizen or concerned group who asks, "What can we do?" - here are the answers.
