In 1985,
Beleke den Hartog and her business-trained mother founded the first Dutch School of Machine Knitting, Studio den Hartog in The Hague. In 1988, they invested in apparel and pattern knitting software, guiding machine knitting into the digital era. Between 2008-2011, she taught machine knitting at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam (Netherlands).
Elsbeth van Heyningen, graduate of the Rietveld Academy of Art, taught textile techniques to amateurs and professionals at the Centre of Art-Education MK24 in Amsterdam. In 1992, Elsbeth applied for the position of textile and fashion instructor at the workshop of the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague. In 1998, Beleke joined her. Together they developed the textile dye Royal Colour Lab and laser engraving and sublimation.
