Machinehood

Machinehood

Book Two of The Continuity Sequence

What happens when the most powerful actors in society are no longer human?

Artificial intelligence is no longer just a tool.

Algorithms already move trillions of dollars, influence elections, guide military systems, and shape the information billions of people see every day. Autonomous systems are beginning to operate inside the institutions that govern civilization.

Yet our political and legal systems were built for one kind of actor.

Human beings.

As machines gain the ability to make decisions, coordinate action, and shape outcomes at scale, a new question emerges that few institutions are prepared to answer.

What is the place of machine intelligence inside human governance?

Machinehood is Book Two of The Continuity Sequence, a nonfiction trilogy about the systems required for civilization to endure as the boundaries of life, intelligence, and agency begin to change.

In Book One, The Architecture of Forever, Amos Behana explored a future where death becomes optional and human lifespans may extend indefinitely.

In Machinehood, the focus shifts from longevity to power.

If intelligent systems become actors within our economic, political, and technological institutions, the challenge ahead will not simply be building smarter machines.

It will be building institutions capable of governing them.

Drawing on political theory, emerging technology, and forward looking analysis, Behana examines the coming transformation of agency, accountability, and power in a world shared by humans and machines.

Inside this book, you will explore:

• Why artificial intelligence is becoming a political problem, not just a technical one
• How machine agency challenges existing legal and democratic institutions
• The emerging debate around responsibility, accountability, and robot rights
• What happens when algorithmic systems begin shaping real world power
• Possible governance frameworks for integrating intelligent machines into society

Clear eyed, provocative, and grounded in real technological trends, Machinehood explores one of the most important questions of the coming century.

Not whether machines will become powerful.

But how humanity will choose to govern that power.

The Continuity Sequence continues in Book Three, which explores the long term institutions required to steward civilization in a world shared by biological and machine minds.
