Magic: Alpha Testing (Arcane Release Notes)

Before magic was deleted, it had to be discovered.

Grun was not looking for power.
He was looking for quiet.

Instead, he found a stone that hummed.

At first, magic behaves like any new tool: exciting, useful, and only mildly catastrophic. A pebble melts. A loaf of bread improves dramatically. Fire becomes optional. It all seems manageable.

But magic has a tendency to listen more closely than it should.

When Grun shares his discovery with his ambitious friend Snib, experimentation turns to spectacle. Rules are drafted. Villagers watch. The stream nearby begins to behave strangely. And somewhere between curiosity and applause, something irreversible slips into the water.

Magic: Alpha Testing is the origin story of a system that was never meant to scale. Part prehistoric fantasy, part satirical software launch, it explores what happens when humanity meets a force that does exactly what it’s told—especially when nobody agrees on what that should be.

Perfect for readers who suspect that “early access” is never quite as controlled as advertised.
