Synopsis
Picking up this book you might glance at the cover, see that essential word in the title, and skip ahead to this introduction. After all, another book on cholesterol? How tired can those get? Maybe it s some sort of guide on eating right or a book talking about the dangers of this evil substance. So many texts, all singing the same old song let s lower our cholesterol! Let s push that devil into submission so that we can all be healthy! If that actually was the book you are looking for, then we are sorry to disappoint you, because this isn t one of those. The subject of this book is indeed cholesterol, but perhaps in a different light than you might be used to seeing. Here, cholesterol is the hero, and not so much the villain. Well, not at all in fact, which we will show in due time. Consider this a handbook of sorts into this very unique and very misunderstood agent. This isn t an epic tome full of mind numbing scientific data worthy of a medical school classroom, revised each year with very little added information that for some reason sells for the same price as the previous edition. Nor is this a heavy excursion into understanding cholesterol, filled with lots of words and unnecessary descriptions. Instead, what you will find here is a book that will try to explain exactly what cholesterol is, why it is so very important to everyone s health, and what the actual facts are behind the numbers that all those commercials tell us to get to.
