Discover the magical world of numbers, shapes, and geometry that surrounds you every day!
What if the way that we traditionally teach kids how to count misses the clear connections between numbers, shapes, and the world around them?
Nabeel Khan invites you to draw on your child’s innate interest in geometry, patterns, and shapes as an intuitive and fun way to learn about numbers―starting their math journey from a place of playfulness, curiosity, and tangible connection to their environment. We can find numbers and shapes everywhere: in the natural world, in art and architecture, in symbolism, and in the sky above us.
This approach is just as straightforward as 1, 2, 3, 4, but also provides kids the tools to see their world in a new way, and the agency to understand the fundamental connection between numeracy and geometry, changing their perspective for life.
Welcome to the world of magic counting!
Nabeel Khan is a visual artist and geometry practitioner based in Meanjin/Brisbane Australia and hailing from London. Nabeel began his arts career as a photographer and then became fascinated by geometry, which led him to study under Keith Critchlow at The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts in London. This has informed his arts practice which encompasses painting, design, printmaking, sculpture, and woodwork, and has inspired him to pass this eternal knowledge on to the next generation as a teacher and author.
Tete Garcia is a Spanish illustrator who has found her creative home in the coastal landscapes of Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Tete Garcia’s work is all about joy, fun fun, and a splash of vibrant and bold colours!. Tete’s art captures the beauty of everyday life, celebrating quotidian situations and the serenity of nature with a captivating charm.
Her mission is to create art with value, meaning, and purpose; looking for more than a visual but also a story behind it.
When she’s not bringing her illustrations to life, you'll find Tete crocheting away, exploring museums, sipping coffee by the beach, or trying to catch some waves while learning to surf.
