Making Marriages Fun

Making Marriages Fun is a practical book created by sitting with a television audience and allowing them to ask questions to a healthy happy couple about the following topics: unmet expectation, communication, preparing for marriage, finances, children, domestic abuse, substance abuse, conflict resolution, his needs/her needs, love languages, spirituality, in-laws, and affair-proofing. Many books feel “preachy”, telling you what you should do, but Making Marriages Fun was created to give you a behind the scenes look at a real couple who has been married over 20 years. Questions like, “do you tell your wife if you lust over another women?” “Do you tell your husband every time you spend money?” “What if you keep having the same problems even though you talk about it and think you solved it?” “What if your spouse never wants to talk things out?” “What if my in-laws don’t like me?” “How do you balance loving your children and also loving your spouse when there is only so much time and energy during those years when the kids are young?”

Since the questions were asked by over 500 random people, you will find something that represents what you want to know. The book offers realistic advice because it is based on a real couple sharing what they do well and where the have fallen short of the mark. The book forms the curriculum used for Healthy Families Foundation (HFF), a non-profit which has proven through multiple independent studies to be extremely effective for thousands of people in stopping domestic abuse, substance abuse, youth delinquency, divorce, suicides, etc. in Botswana. HFF realizes that at the root of so many social problems are broken homes, and this book teaches people how to correct many of the issues that are destroying families. Since it is based on a real family, it is entertaining and heartwarming. In fact, you can go to www.ashleythaba.com and watch trailers of the TV shows where people were asking the questions to put a face to the authors and their family.
