A late 1930s monograph on ornithology in North Dakota by O.A. Stevens of the North Dakota Agricultural College. The monograph argues birds are essential to agriculture for many reasons, chief among which is that they eat pests and insects associated with crop loss. Bird food, conservation, identification, and migration is discussed. Each species of native bird is discussed at length, describing its physical characteristics as well as is peculiar nesting habits or behavior. 8vo (8.75" by 5.75"), pp. 44 (wrappers inclusive), with index of bird species on lower wrapper. Photo illustrated. Very good. Toned, wrappers loose and chipped.
