A public health booklet for families, published by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, answering commonly asked questions about the disease such as what causes it, where it can be contracted, and how to treat infection. At this time, quinine was used to prevent infection. Though it was published for the general public, the booklet contains very detailed scientific descriptions of how mosquitos spread the disease, with illustrations. Advocates for "oiling" stagnant water to prevent mosquitos from breeding on the surface. Extensive information mosquitos.
