The blue serge suit looked well on him, she thought. One needed to look sharply to detect its shoddiness. What difference did it make anyway? He had worn it in life, surely it was good enough for a corpse. Lucky he had a dark suit. Why spend seventy-five dollars or more for a new one just for a few hours of display in a funeral parlor and a short ride to the crematory? A plain waste of money. Besides, Sarah thought, they would probably steal the suit before he was cremated anyway, and sell it. She had heard that sometimes happened.
