At twenty-seven, Michael Tandoi’s life hit a breaking point. Years of bad decisions, fueled by a relentless crack-cocaine addiction, led him to become a danger not only to himself but also to everyone around him. A high-speed car chase, a string of criminal charges, and a courtroom packed with reporters ended with a judge handing down a sentence he believed was the only way to save Michael’s life: seven years in prison.
The Man I Was Destined to Be is Michael’s raw, honest memoir of how addiction stole everything he once valued—and how it ultimately led him to redemption. Writing much of this book from his prison cell, Michael recounts the chaos of his life before incarceration, the pain of losing his father while behind bars, and the slow but steady journey that helped him become the man he was meant to be.
His message is simple yet powerful: Love yourself, love God, and know that anything is possible if you’re clean and sober.
This is more than a prison story or an addiction memoir. It is a testament to second chances and a guide for anyone seeking recovery. If you have ever wondered if real change is possible, Michael’s story proves it is.
