*Postage to the USA is suspended*. Card covers, trade paperback size, b&w plates, 304pp. Light wear to card edges/corners; a near fine copy. Eric Nave, an Australian naval officer, was the first to unravel Japanese naval telegraphy and to break Imperial Japanese Navy codes. During the war, he constructed Australia's first signals intelligence bureau and post-war he continued to provide a significant contribution to Australian intelligence, involved in the development of the Defence Signals Bureau and later in ASIO. This biography sets Nave's achievements against the geopolitical shifts which led to war with Japan in 1941. It explores the dysfunctional nature of US signals intelligence and its effects on war in the South West Pacific, and charts the rise of Australias quantitative and qualitative contribution to Allied intelligence.
