Management and Leadership in Social Work Practice and Education

Probably no topic or area of concern is more profound than leading and managing social welfare programs. Since its beginnings centuries ago, social welfare has progressed when it had outstanding leadership and faltered when it did not. Managing and leading in social work and the human services has its own extensive literature. This book brings together some current thinking on the subject from practitioners and academic specialists on the subject including Mark Ezell, a distinguished management theorist from the University of Kansas; Lawrence Martin of the University of Central Florida; Bruce D. Leon Ginsberg obtained his PhD from the University of Oklahoma. He has served as dean at West Virginia University and the University of South Carolina. Currently, he is program director at Applachian State University. Dr. Ginsberg is the editor of Social Work in Rural Communities, now in its fourth edition, and numerous other books on social work. He has served as editor-in-chief of the journal Administration in Social Work since 2002. A multiaward winner, Dr. Ginsberg is well-known as an expert in the area of social work management.
