Kar has degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and Post-graduation from Strathclyde University, Glasgow. He has worked with Caterpillar Tractor Company, U.K., and Larsen & Toubro Ltd., India. He has also worked as an Adjunct Professor with IIT-Kharagpur in Maintenance Engineering & Management for a full Semester, teaching post-graduate students.
