Based on a successful undergraduate course, this is designed to be a core textbook on the physical processes of the natural environment and the human use and abuse of it. Looking at the principles and practices of environment management the final section of the book looks to the future and our abilities to plan and control management strategies. The particular perspective applied here is from the discipline of geography, which the editor argues holds the key to our understanding how to manage the environment constructively.
