Welcome to Yucaipa, a land where magic, science, and the stories of the races are seamlessly wound together by a history that still shapes their world today. Over one hundred years ago, a war devastated every race and every land. Those remaining bound together to form a city where all could learn to live together, the city of Athenia. It became a powerful and resourceful city; then it vanished. Swallowed whole into a crater that now spews forth dangerous and scary monsters, the city of Athenia is no more.

Malada is a teenage girl, a refugee of the disaster, a girl with a secret, and a girl who needs help. Finding refuge in a small fishing village, she recruits a smitten local boy, and the girl who longs for him, to help her reunite with her mother. Together the three set out on an adventure that tests them physically through dangerous challenges but also emotionally, as maturing in close company isn’t easy. Will Malada’s secret be the key to, or the unraveling of, the teen’s quest to find her mother?
