Mauer presents Paul's analog black-and-white photographs of the Berlin Wall, capturing both the hope and uncertainty surrounding its dismantling. Between Nov 1989 and Dec 1990, photographer Manfred Paul, who lived near the Wall in East Berlin, travelled along the line of the old border with a plate camera and a Polaroid camera in order to photograph this stone-faced witness not only as a relic of the political division but also as an element of the reality he himself had lived.
