Item description from seller
London: Printed for Peter Parker, 1679. Small Octavo (7 3 /4 x 5 3 /4, 1978mm x 145mm). With 4 engraved plates and various charts and tables. Bound in quarter calf over marbled paper boards. On the spine, 5 raised bands, gilt with title and author. Lightly worn on the spine and extremities. Some foxing throughout. This is a rare copy of an early gardening book. Moses Cook (d. 1715) was gardener to the Earl of Essex, Arthur Capell, and contributed to the forrest garden of Cassioberry in Herfordshire, England. Cook outlined the manner of raising trees, as well as the rules to do so. He recommended the use of limes, elms and beech trees, and using only the best specimens.
