Item description from seller

All the engravings present: that opposite the frontispiece has the two central figures 'enhanced' with pink watercolour. A poem has been penned on the rear endpiece and inside back cover. The quarter leather back cover is hanging by a thread; also very rubbed and worn. The front cover has been replaced with a thick piece of grey cardboard, cut to size, and attached with light brown tape on both sides as hinges. The leather label with gilt title is still attached to the very worn original leather spine. The binding within is stout; the pages clean. A small amount of foxing to the engravings.

Shadow Books sells all manner of second-hand, out of print and rare books; but not popular paperback fiction. If we have a speciality, it is a broad academic one embracing the humanities fields of history, politics, classic literature, art history, media, history of ideas. We pride ourselves on setting our prices - quality for quality - at the low end of the range, on the scrupulous way we describe our books, on the rapidity with which we dispatch orders, and on our prompt and friendly response to customers and their queries.…
