My garage was converted into a book room, which is like a small but very well-stocked bookshop 18 feet long by eight feet wide. The two long walls contain open shelves holding over 1500 books and over 350 VHS videos, plus DVDs, CDs, audio tapes and vinyl records, plus a selection of special issues of newspapers and magazines. The books include adult fiction , especially The Scarlet Pimpernel, Richard Bolitho, The Saint, Modesty Blaise, Jack Reacher and Kay Scarpetta; childrens' books, especially the Discworld series by Pratchett; and nonfiction, especially space travel, jazz and big band swing.
