A Manual of Chemistry, on the basis of Dr. Turner's elements of chemistry; containing, in a condensed form, all the most important facts and principles of the science

Philadelphia: Thomas, Cowperthwait & Co., 1848. Fourth Revised Edition. Octavo (19 cm); 480pp; intaglio in-text illlus. throughout. Boards in tan sheep with gilt to spine and black leather label. Boards rubbed and bumped with cracking to spine joint and upper board at head. Previous owner doodling in pen with mild soiling overall. Pencil initials to top and bottom edge and spotting. All pages foxed and lightly toned and endsheets show previous owner pencil with bookseller sticker at first pastedown, though interior remains clean. A Very Good copy. The previous owner, Lewis H. Anderson of Winchester, VA, was very generous with his markings on the book, including his initials, LHA, to the top and bottom edges and the head of spine, though the A has rubbed away on the latter. The endsheets sport his pencil equations, recitations, and drawings (a spooky lady in profile) as well as his name.
