Edited by Robert Etheridge and Harry Govier Seeley. The first volume is Part I Physical Geology and Palaeontology by Seeley, the second volume is Part II Stratigraphical Geology and Palaeontology by Etheridge. Cover dark red buckram, faded at spine, with blind impressed line border and publisher's shield monogram. Slightly bumped. Vol.1 has front hinge starting. Both vols contain engraved illustrations throughout. Vol.1 has colour frontispiece of mineral sections, with tissue guard, (the tissue guard is foxed, the plate vg with only light foxing in the border), and many small engraved vignettes. Vol.2 has 35 engraved plates of fossils, each with tissue guard with key, and colour geological map frontispiece with tissue guard. Vol.1, 546pp + 34 pp publisher's ads, Vol.2, 712pp. Dimensions 9 x 6.1 inches/23 x 15.7 cm. Thickness 1.9 ins/4.8cm and 2.6 ins/ 6.5 cm. The combined weight is 3kg before packaging. Surface mail virtually does not now exist, and the distinction between Priority and Economy is now between Airmail Tracked/Signed delivery and Standard Airmail
Current Conditions. Since international postal services are almost universally in chaos at present, largely Covid-generated, with huge delays and some losses, I have removed the Standard airmail option from non-European destinations for the duration.
