Trained under his uncle Henry Cline at St. Thomas's Hospital, he also pursued philosophical studies in Berlin, shaping his intellectual career. Thomas Castle (805–1837) was an English botanical and medical writer from Kent. A Guy's Hospital student and Linnean Society fellow, he published works on pharmacology, surgery, and botany, including Medical Botany and Essay on Poisons. Castle committed suicide in 1837.
