Hand-written manuscript from Rev Horace Edwin Hayden consisting of "A Brief History of the Soldier's Medals Issued by the State of West Virginia as Tolkens of Respect to those of her citizens who served in the armies of the United States from 1861 to 1865." Handwritten note stating "edition of 50 copies, copyrighted" opposite title page. Reverend Hayden was a member of the historical society of Pennsylvania, the Southern Historical Society, and a corresponding member of the Virginia and New England Historical Societies. Privately Printed in 1879 by J Munsell. This book was eventually printed in 1881 by E. B. Yordy, Wilkes-Barre. A very good copy in marbled boards with a black cloth spine. Seller Inventory # 48290
