Small octavo. Approximately 84 pages of hand-written recipes. All in one hand. There are around a further 60 blank leaves bound in at intervals throughout the book. No date indicated but we estimate circa 1840's. Recently bound in black buckram with paper label to the spine. The majority of the recipes are for food but a few are for useful concoctions e.g. hair oil, toothpowder and shampoo. There is a recipe for ginger beer and another for elder flower wine. One recipe is for "consumption of very weak invalids". The whole in very good condition, a few marks and signs of age and use but overwhelmingly in good order.
