The object of this bookand one it carries out very wellis to present general information about the many types of maps available, describe them, and give sources from which to purchase them. It is divided into "Land Maps" (two-thirds of the book), "Sky Maps," "Water Maps," and "Map Products," with appendixes giving major map publishers' addresses and selected map libraries and map stores. It includes only items in print, daringly noting prices. There is some repetition, minor incorrect information (e.g., the National Cartographic Information Center does not sell maps), and some omissions (e.g., a map library closed to the public in Colorado is listed; the largest collection in the state is not), but overall, this is an attractive, very useful book, especially appropriate for reference in public and academic libraries.
