Signed by leading members of the cast (to Edward), sadly all now passed with the exception of Denis Lill (Major Benjy); Prunella Scales, Geraldine McEwen, Nigel Hawthorne, James Greene, Geoffrey Chater each adding their own 'catch phrase: 'au reservoir', 'Quai Hai' etc. The LWT production in the mid 1980s i arguably the best of the adaptations, filmed in Rye and Winchelsea and with the excellent theme by Jim Parker. A fine copy of the 1983 reprint of the 1967 edition, in a very good non price clipped d/w. 316pp.

Benson (1867­1940) was the son of the Archbishop of Canterbury and a member of a distinguished and eccentric family. He wrote more than 100 books but is best remembered for his Lucia novels, written between 1920 and 1939.
