About this Item
In good condition. A lovely set! Bindings uniform and attractive. Light scuffing to extremities with minor edge wear. Gilt compartments with Harrow School arrows and black morocco spine labels. Very nice. Star design tool work to boards. Speckled edges. Front boards of Volumes I & III are nearly detached, but intact. Robert Wayne Stilwel modern bookplate on front pastedowns. Interior are wonderfully preserved. Very clean and bright! Unmarked. Bindings intact, albeit somewhat shaken. Title pages are somewhat loose in Volumes I & III. Please see photos. The German scholar Johann Frederick Gronovious (1611-1671) published his edition of Plautus in 1664. Editions of Plautus begin to appear as early as 1472, and his comedies have been a source of many dramatic translations and adaptions since the Renaissance. Seller Inventory # COLC1763EJKN
