Marcian Colonna An Italian Tale with Three Dramatic Scenes and Other Poems

A smart full calf volume of this new edition of poetry published under the pseudonym of B. W. Procter. A smart new edition volume of verse. Bound in full red calf, and decorated with gilt tooling to spine, marbled endpapers and speckled text block edges, gilt dentelles and gilt detail to spine tip board edges. Published under the name Barry Cornwall - the psuedonym of English poet Bryan Waller Procter, who also worked as the Commisioner in Lunacy, assisting in enforcing the 1845 Lunacy Act. He moved in influential literary circles, and Thackeray's novel Vanity Fair and Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White were both dedicated to him. Bound in full red calf. Externally, generally smart. Moderate fading to spine. The odd mark to boards. Internally, firmly bound, with very infrequent and mild strain. Pages generally bright and clean, with the odd spot and handling mark. Slight loss to front blank. Very Good.
