Begleitend zur Edition der Commenta in Ciceronis Rhetorica des r�mischen Rhetorikprofessors Marius Victorinus (4. Jh. n. Chr.), die 2013 in der Bibliotheca Teubneriana erschienen ist, werden hier Prolegomena und kritischer Kommentar vorgelegt.

Der erste Band (Prolegomena) beschreibt erstmals alle erhaltenen 60 Textzeugen, die die Commenta mehr oder weniger vollst�ndig �berliefern, dazu Fragmente und Exzerpte in Auswahl, und enth�lt einen Katalog der Deperdita. Ausf�hrlich werden die �berlieferungszusammenh�nge beleuchtet und ein komplexes Stemma entwickelt, das sich in einen fr�nkischen und einen italienischen Variantentr�ger aufspaltet. Dabei werden die stemmatischen Erkenntnisse immer auch in die weitere Rezeptionsgeschichte des Textes eingeordnet. In einer Appendix wird ein karolingisches Rhetorikkompendium erstmals ediert und eine kritische Recensio der Castigationes des venezianischen Rhetors Marinus Becichemus zum Text der Commenta vorgelegt.

Der zweite Band (Kritischer Kommentar) begr�ndet die Wahl von Varianten und Konjekturen in der Edition, wobei das vielseitige Gesamtwerk des Grammatikers, Rhetors, Philosophen und Theologen Victorinus ber�cksichtigt wird. Hinzu kommen umfangreiche Indices, die die beiden B�nde erschlie�en.
